On November 10, 2017 I met Anthony Pym 14 years after I met him the first time in Halifax, NS, at the 2003 annual CATS conference. Back then, I was only a PhD student who was privileged enough to have his first article in Translation Studies published a year earlier thanks to the mediation of my supervisor, Alexis Nouss. Anthony Pym was the editor of the 2002 special issue of The Translator on “The Return to Ethics in Translation Studies”. 14 years later, I was not anymore the anonymous PhD student I was back then. This time, I was asked to speak about the discipline as a colleague… It’s definitely an all too different feeling.
